چکیده

A method for deriving a public key encryption system from any ‘conventional’ (secret key) block cipher is described. The method is related to, but improves upon, Merkle’s ’puzzle system’.

An Introduction to Cryptology

This paper provides an overview of the state of the art in the design of cryptographic algorithms. It reviews the different type of algorithms for encryption and authentication and explains the principles of stream ciphers, block ciphers, hash functions, public-key encryption algorithms, and digital signature schemes. Subsequently the design and evaluation procedures for cryptographic algorithm...

A Family of Trapdoor Ciphers

This paper presents several methods to construct trapdoor block ciphers. A trapdoor cipher contains some hidden structure; knowledge of this structure allows an attacker to obtain information on the key or to decrypt certain ciphertexts. Without this trapdoor information the block cipher seems to be secure. It is demonstrated that for certain block ciphers, trapdoors can be built-in that make t...

Contemporary Block Ciphers

This paper considers modern secret-key block ciphers. The theory behind the design and analysis of modern block ciphers is explained, and the most important known attacks are outlined. Finally the Advanced Encryption Standard is discussed. 1 Block Ciphers Introduction In the last few thousands of years encryption algorithms, also called ciphers, have been developed and used [18,28]. Many of the...

Strict key avalanche criterion

A block cipher, such as the DES cipher, is used to encrypt binary plaintext in discrete blocks of length n using a key of length m, to form ciphertext blocks of length n. A block cipher is said to satisfy the strict key avalanche criterion if a one bit change in the key causes on the average one half of the ciphertext bit positions to change. In this paper the importance of the strict key avala...

A General Encryption Scheme Based on MDS Code ( Extended Summary )

Many applications, such as wireless communications, high speed multimedia data streaming systems and sensor networks, call for strong ciphers with low computation complexity and high speed in encryption and decryption. Additive stream ciphers usually have lower computation complexity and thus provide higher encryption/decryption speed than block ciphers. An additive stream cipher usually encryp...
